Queer Cinema x Queer in the City: Club Kid

Peter lives as if the night will never end. As a flamboyant club promoter, he knows everyone, parties until the early hours and treats drug use as casually as having a Diet Coke in hand. Until a ten-year-old boy suddenly shows up at his door: Arlo, his son.

As Peter’s wild nightlife slowly begins to unravel, he suddenly finds himself responsible for a child he barely knows. What follows is a chaotic, hilarious and surprisingly tender journey into fatherhood, responsibility and second chances.

With Club Kid, Jordan Firstman makes a dazzling directorial debut in which New York’s queer club scene bursts vividly onto the screen. Shot on 35mm and packed with pounding music, sharp humour and unforgettable characters, the film effortlessly shifts between decadent nights and deeply moving moments. A film that is every bit as exuberant as it is heartfelt.
